Light Brigade Announces Special Offerings at OFC/NFOEC 2009

February 11, 2009 – For the last seven years The Light Brigade has coordinated special projects at the annual Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition/National Fiber Optics Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC). At this year's conference, to be held from March 24–26 in San Diego, California, The Light Brigade will once again help to bring three exciting events to the exhibit floor.

The FTTx Resource Center
This year’s FTTx Center will feature a preview of next-generation (NGPON) networks and a functioning GPON system, as well as live demonstrations of fiber termination and splicing, cable preparation, and testing. A wide array of products that encompass every aspect of FTTx technology, from components to systems, will be on display alongside kiosks featuring continuous displays and demonstrations from FTTx organizations and manufacturers.

Outside Plant/Fiber Technology Showcase
The OSP/Fiber Technology Showcase will feature ten hour-long demonstrations that focus on the latest in fiber-optic technology and techniques, including presentations on fiber optic inspection and cleaning, DWDM testing, emergency restorations, connector geometry, fiber management, fiber termination, ROADMs, and GPON upgrade strategies. There will also be a special four-hour technical session on plastic optical fiber.

Video Theater
The educational theater will feature a series of topics in digital DVD format. Whether you are a novice who wants to understand more about fiber optics or an expert who wants to stay on top of the latest trends, you’ll enjoy everything these unique presentations have to offer. Topics include the fundamentals of fiber optics, cable management products, active devices, troubleshooting disciplines, and connectorization. The Light Brigade’s latest DVD, “Fiber Optic Passive Devices,” will be shown.
