January 25, 2010 — The Light Brigade, Inc. is pleased to announce a partnership with the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) for the development of a fiber optic underwater professional certification program. This program is intended to educate and recognize fiber optic professionals who are involved in underwater applications.
The Light Brigade will serve as curriculum and content developer for the CFOUP program and will work with the SUT to define how the course and exam are to be provided nationally and internationally. The program will be sponsored and administered by the SUT.
The curriculum will focus on fiber optic practical theory, components, systems, and test equipment. Disciplines would include design, planning, installation, safety, testing, and maintenance. Level I certification would consist of knowledge-based content and would be applicable for those who manage, design, and plan fiber optic systems. Level II certification is comprised of hands-on exercises for those who install, test, and maintain fiber optic systems.
