Fiber-optic training specialist The Light Brigade, a division of AFL, has announced that it will provide fifteen open class training sessions in Canada in 2014. In 2013 they offered Fiber Optics 1-2-3 and Fiber Optics for Oil and Gas programs and now have added Advanced Fiber Training, FTTx for Installers and Technicians, and Fiber Optic Training for Intelligent Traffic systems to the schedule.

“We saw a tremendous response to our initial 2013 offerings in Canada,” stated Dario DePaolis, General Manager for The Light Brigade. “To reach the rapidly expanding customer base, our core Fiber Optics 1-2-3 course is now scheduled in nine venues across the entire country and we have added a few of our most requested advance courses as well.”

The four-day Fiber Optics 1-2-3 course, comprise 16 hours of classroom training and 16 hours of hands-on skills labs. The courses, which The Light Brigade says are its most popular, target individuals looking to learn how to design, install, and maintain fiber-optic communications systems in such applications as telco, broadband access, and premises (LAN) environments. The courses enable students to use the latest fiber-optic technology and equipment to learn how to splice, connectorize, test, and troubleshoot fiber-optic networks to increase efficiency, reliability, and on-the-job safety, as well as to reduce cost and downtime, the company says.

Our Fiber Optic for Oil and Gas course has been expanded in 2014 to go into more depth on key topics.  It now features 16 hours of classroom training and 16 hours of hands-on skills labs that are designed to provide our attendees with the practical understanding and the skills required to properly design, install, and maintain fiber-optic systems in petrochemical environments such as offshore drilling, pipeline, refineries, and process plants.
