Tukwila, WA – March 5, 2018 – After decades of creating industry-leading training, Larry Johnson will retire from his position with Light Brigade. Larry founded the company in 1987, and has been involved in the fiber optics industry for over forty years.
“Light Brigade was created from Larry’s early insight into the need for training within the fast growing fiber optic technology sector in the early days of fiber,” said Lee Kellett, general manager for Light Brigade. “His sense for the market need and his deep understanding of the technology, helped build Light Brigade into a leader in the fiber optic training industry.”
After AFL purchased Light Brigade in 2008, Larry continued as the key technologist and developed course materials, produced training videos and worked with many customers on custom training. During his career, he has contributed so much to the industry as a whole. Larry is well respected throughout the fiber optics industry and a valued member of many trade associations and committees. Given his expert knowledge on technology trends, industry conferences often seek him out as a presenter.

Larry’s keen interest in the history of fiber optics led him to create ‘FiberStory’, an organization that tracks and chronicles fiber optic milestones and accomplishments. FiberStory archives hold a number of digital interviews from fiber optic industry luminaries, historic photos and products. Larry’s retirement is effective March 31, 2018.
