Intelligent Transportation Systems
Our multi-level Fiber Optics for ITS, Traffic, Fire Alarm, and Communications Systems course offers three levels of certification training over five days. Students learn essential skills for the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Fiber Optics for ITS, Traffic, Fire Alarm, and Communication Systems certification requirements.
Technician Level I: Two days of classroom lecture on the physical layer: fiber optic theory, fiber types, cables, splicing, terminations, fiber management products, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Field Technician Level II: Two days of hands-on exercises performing fiber optic cable preparation, splicing, OTDR operation, optical loss testing, restoration, and maintenance. Recommended for those who install and maintain fiber-optic intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
Design Technician Level II: One day of classroom lecture on system design, loss budgets, optical multiplexing, bidirectional transmission, bandwidth considerations, integration for voice, video, and data systems, and analog to digital ITS applications. Recommended for Maintenance and Operations Supervisors, Design Engineers, and ITS Managers.
