Course: CFCE - Certified Fiber Characterization Engineer

Dates: Sept 9 - 13, 2024

Location: Seattle, WA

Duration: 5 Days

Certified Fiber Characterization Engineer is a five-day instructor-led course that focuses on mastering the tests required to verify that infrastructure can support high data rate (10+ Gb/s) applications, optical amplification, and extended wavelength ranges for CWDM and DWDM systems and provides a comprehensive background on fibers, network types, and challenges. Students review loss and loss budgets and how dispersion impacts higher-speed systems. All infrastructure tests are covered independently and as a suite of tests. From bidirectional loss and ORL to comprehensive OTDR, to CD, PMD, and Spectral Attenuation testing. Upon completion, attendees will have fully characterized a fiber span and analyzed test results to qualify a network for high-speed operation.
