This three-day instructor-led course teaches how to properly design, install, and maintain fiber optics systems in harsh environments underground and surface mines. Attendees will use the latest fiber optic technology and equipment to splice, connectorize, test, and troubleshoot mining-based optical fiber networks in order to increase efficiency and reliability.


Audience: Anyone who designs, installs, tests, or maintains optical fiber networks in harsh or hazardous environments


Prerequisite: Fiber Foundations is recommended, but not required


Course Level: Introductory to intermediate. Beginners to experienced fiber technicians find the class and extensive hands-on skills training beneficial


Course Length: 3 days: One and a half days of classroom learning and one and a half days of hands-on skills training

Certification (Optional): ETA Fiber Optics Installer (FOI) - Light Brigade Digital Credentialing
